Where has the time gone?

Almost a year since I last posted anything. I think I need to get back in the swing of things. I do manage to get some recipes posted, but have been very slack in this blogging business. I'll try to make a short version of a long year.

Oct '09 - My girl, Leasa had a birthday and we celebrated - had a fun time, as always. She is a fun girl and the wonderful part......I know she loves me also.

Nov '09 - Two of our sons celebrated birthdays - John and Cliff - since John lives close we were able to celebrate with him, but Cliff lives away so it was a phone celebration with him. Love my boys!

Dec '09 - Our girl, Jane (she loves me also - ain't life sweet?) celebrated a birthday and also Donnie. Christmas time was in this household and at some time or other, we were able to enjoy all of our kids being home. Was not able to manage a family picture and was so sorry about that. Love all my kids and love being together with them, even if it is a short visit. We tried to plan things around Leasa's work schedule - but all in all we had a wonderful visit together.

Jan '10 - A new year! Brenda had a birthday (she is recovering well from her cancer surgery). Also our first born grandson, Robert - reached the old age of 17. Does not seem possible. He's now considering college.....Oh My!

Feb '10 - Our grandchildren Stephen, Taryn and Trenton all celebrated birthdays in this month. Our firstborn granddaughter, Taryn is now a teen!

Mar '10 - Joshua - our second born grandchild had a birthday and is now 15.

Apr '10 - Our youngest granddaughter, LeAnn is now seven years old. My sweetheart had a birthday and I had a celebration for him, which he totally enjoyed. He is now 70 years young. We also celebrated another anniversary.

May '10 - Our youngest grandson, Jaydon is now six years old and full of life.

Jun '10 - Our second son, Edward is now a tad older.

Jul '10 - No birthdays - can we have a sigh of relief for a moment here?

Aug '10 - Our Phillip is now 11 years old. During this month we enjoyed a short trip to Brownsville and totally enjoyed being with our kids! What a wonderful time - stress free and just plain good laughing and having a fun time togehter. The seven cousins seemed to enjoy just being together. If my Aunt Julia (the only Mama for me) would be living, she would now be 109 years old. She was born in 1901 and passed away in 2003. I can still picture her on her couch, her Bible in her old worn hands, and a cup of coffee on the arm of the couch - she knew the Word. Good memories. She was the very best cook in the whole wide world - she could make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich taste like a gourmet meal!

Can I tell you that I am blessed? I have been blessed and truly have to give all praise to my Father - my heavenly Father. I will never know why He chose me to bless so abundantly, but He has and I praise His holy name forever and ever.

Our little Sunshine Angel, Alanna Rose, had a birthday the 13th of Sep. She started celebrating on Fri and it seems to be on-going for her. We are always so pleased that she wants us included in the events, to be with both the very young and the older. Alanna....we are so proud of who you are and are so thankful to see you having such a tender heart. Seeing you loving Jesus and living for Him means everything and we pray you will always stay as close to Him as possible. We love you very much and want you to know we appreciate every little thing you do for us - you are always so thoughtful of Bacadaddy and Baca. Thank you!

It would seem that my blog has gone by the wayside! We have had company, but still - I should have found time to wish our sweet Phillip a very Happy Birthday - the 2nd of Aug, he was 10 years old. We talked to him, but I do want to let him know by BLOG that we love him so much, and we are so very proud of him. He's growing up much too quickly! I must tell you that this grandchild is one of the most polite young boys....he's so very quick to say "Thank you"....."Yes Sir"....etc., and I am so proud of this grandson. I believe he will grow up to be an amazing young man! We pray for you daily Phillip and we love you very much.

Today is our son, Edward's birthday. He has gone through some rough times, but we are so proud of the stand he has taken - and that is totally trusting God. God has so richly blessed this son with a very beautiful singing voice and he uses it for the glory of God. I have never heard him grumble about the hard times but will tell you that he is trusting God. He's had good times throughout his life and been blessed in so many ways. I am proud of this second son of ours and want him to know that we love him very much and pray that God richly blesses him in all the days to come. Happy Birthday Edward and we love you and pray for you much! We are proud of the man you are!

If you are not a mom, you have/had a mom and for that you can be thankful - or if for some reason your mom did not raise you......there must be someone that helped you in life that is a mother figure. I did, I had my Aunt Julia and I love her and miss her so much. Someday I will see her again when I go through the curtain to reach the other side and be with Jesus forever! Tuesday, 5 May 2009, is a day to celebrate for Jaydon, our youngest grandson. He will be 5 years old on this day. Five years ago our family was totally blessed when God gave us this precious little "Dimpled Angel" Jaydon Zane. If you want a laugh, kinda sit around and simply listen to him and you do NOT have to have a hearing aid to hear him as God certainly blessed this child with a loud booming voice. He is his daddy's own little boy!! We have certainly been blessed by the precious grandchildren God has sent our way and we love every one of them. Jaydon, Bacadaddy and Baca love you so much and are so thankful you are part of our family. Hugs and more hugs to you! May you have a very Happy Birthday and many, many more. May you grow up loving Jesus more than life!!!

What a wonderful time we had at the Mother-Daughter-Granddaughter Tea held today, 2 May 2009 at San Angelo First Assembly of God church. Thank you to all the ladies that put this all together - a Number 1 THANK YOU to DeLana for all her hard work, and then to all the ladies that had such beautiful tables all ready for their guests. A lot of effort and hard work went into making this such a special day for the precious moms/grandmoms and granddaughters. Thank you everyone!

Well, well, well! Would you believe it possible that 45 years ago the earth shook and the heavens trembled? My bible and orchid were dancing right along - in perfect timing. God certainly blessed me with the darling of all men. I know why so many women are so unhappy in their marriage - because I got THE man!!! I praise the Lord that my sweetheart is a Godly example; one who studies the word, prays and listens for God's message. Today is my sweetheart's birthday. Happy Birthday to my man! How I love him - I can only thank God for bringing this guy into my life and for giving him to me. It was a total God Thing! So many times I don't know what I would have done without him; sometimes I didn't know what to do WITH him! If we have a husband that loves the Lord, serves Him and is in His word at all times; we truly have a treasure straight from God. I do have such a treasure. Praise the Lord for this darling and I can only say THANK YOU to my mother-in-law, Mama for raising this fine man. Without her, there certainly would not be a Merrell. Six years ago on 6 April, a very special little girl joined our family. LeAnn Elizabeth Crumley! What a precious little angel came into our hearts - especially to her mom, dad and four older brothers. She was our third baby girl in our group of grandchildren - and IS our baby girl! How we love LeAnn - this little freckle faced girl. I called her my "Precious Angel" when she was born, but now that I know her and her personality she should be the "Chatty Angel" - My! How our little darling loves to talk!!! We praise the Lord for this little sweetheart and want her to know her Bacadaddy and Bacamama love her very, very much! HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRECIOUS ANGEL!

Today is a special day for our two Temple angels - Taryn is 12 and Trenton is 11. Same day - one year apart. A great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Taryn and Trenton. Today is my "Sweet Angel's" 8th birthday. Stephen is probably the most quiet of all the grandchildren. He is such a sweet boy and how I love this grandson. His smile is so tender and his voice is gentle; his hugs are the most wonderful and the delight on his face when he first sees us melts my heart! He's one to snuggle really close and loves to be loved - and I love to love him! What a blessing from the Lord this child is and how I thank Him for this precious grandson. Did you all read about our own College Minister - Lennon Noland in today's paper? God bless and keep Lennon, Crystal and the beautiful little angel, Addie, safe and close to His heart all the time. January 8th, 2009 - our Number 1 Angel, Robert - our first grandchild is 16 years old. I will never forget the first time we saw this precious angel. Because of him, we are Bacamama and Bacadaddy. That was the name he gave us when he started talking. He would say "Baca" and we would instantly stand at attention! After all this grandchild is so special. He would then either say Bacadaddy or Bacamama and that is how the names started. Everyone would ask how he came up with these names and with my smart mouth would reply "This is such a very special child, I'm sure the Holy Spirit has put these very words in his mouth!" Welllllllll......about three years ago, Bacadaddy was at church in the office of the secretary and said something about Bacadaddy, and she said "What did you say?" He then told her the story and she then said: "I have relatives who are missionaries in Croatia and Baca over there is for the word grandparent." So this is the story we have been told and if you ever find this is incorrect information - it might be best if you don't deflat my balloon. This IS a very special child and we are so proud of the young man he has become. He is such a blessing to us and we can only praise the Lord for our Robert.

From our Brownsville angels - we received new pictures for Christmas and you that know me well, know that I am thrilled to death when I receive pictures and I do a little dance - certainly where no one can see me!!!! That's with my hand up and a promise on my lips. Here ya be - pictures of my beautiful Brownsville family. How I love them all. Love ALL my family - they are precious gifts to me from God. I am also so very thankful for my husband's family - as I love them all and there is just a WHOLE BUNCH of those folks - pure gold. Just have to show a picture of my gift from my SA angels; the three cannisters in the center. I do love the color and they match my dishes perfectly. I opened my big mouth about seeing them and my SA girl heard me and didn't let any grass grow under her feet until she had purchased them for my Christmas. Later I went back to get the two larger ones. My first ever set of cannisters - always used Tupperware or jars, just whatever. I just think these are so pretty.

Merry Christmas! Today, 25 December, is the day we celebrate the birth of Christ. Happy Thanksgiving! We had a good day and are so thankful for all of the wonderful blessings that have been poured on us. We had family! What a wonderful time - only upset was our Nr. 1 Girl could not be with us. She had school "stuff" and couldn't come along. It was hard telling them goodbye this morning, but we are so thankful that the trip is much quicker and can be more often since we moved to SA. We had a good visit and enjoyed having the angels for a few days. Praise the Lord for our family!

Another birthday! It's so hard for me to believe that my babies are all grown up men. On 18 November - just a few short years ago, or so it would seem - our first baby boy was born. After a difficult pregnacy and a not so fun delivery, we got our beautiful baby boy that we had longed for. A little boy! That is just what we wanted, and that is just what we got. We are so very proud of the man he has become - a good son, husband, and daddy and a Godly man that loves the Lord and serves Him! Welcome home Special Angel! I have nicknamed all of our grandchildren Angel with another "word" in front or back. Our Special Angel arrived in San Angelo this week. He's so very special because while he wasn't born into our family, he got into it as quickly as possible. We met Donnie when he was 12 years old. I'm so proud of what God is doing in his life and just know that God has something really great in store for him do do for the Lord. Please remember to pray for our Donnie.

Today my seven-year old Sunshine Angel was watching as I cut out a pattern for a skirt. We were talking about sewing and the work involved when I ask if she knew that I had made her Aunt J's wedding dress. She said "Baca will you make my wedding dress?" I answered "Sure, if I'm still living." She then looked at me with those big blue eyes of hers and said, "Well Baca, could you make my wedding dress next week, because then if you die, I'll have it ready for when I do get married." How I love, love these angels of ours!

After reading the third story book to my little four year old grandson, he fell asleep in my lap. After sleeping for an hour, he started stirring so I started humming. In a sweet, sleepy little voice he said "I'm tired of that song, fast forward." And he slept for another 30 minutes.

FAMILY TIME

Our angels from Olmito came for a week visit and together with the SA angels, we had a wonderful, fun time. The cousins played together and had a great time. We went to "Photographer's Alley" and on over to the train for family pictures; next for a time of sliding down the hill on flattened boxes at the Visitor's Center and last to Christoval for a cooling down time at the river. Back home for a meal and then the kids and grandkids went for a game of bowling. This was all on Sat, the 5th of July.

A Finished Project

I told you that my sweetheart and I built a house and didn't have one little cross word! Here's a couple of pictures of the finished product (the first picture is close to the true color) and also one of "little angel A" that received it. Our "oldest girl angel T" never, ever asked for a doll house and the "baby girl angel LA" has a huge one that belonged to her mom when she was a little girl. "Angel girl A" ask for one and because I had a 40% off coupon for the store, we got it for her birthday. It certainly took lots and lots of work to get it all together for her; but it truly was a lot of fun and I hope she enjoys it for years to come.

We have the most wonderful 13-year old grandson named Joshua - the best in the whole world. He bought me this delightful cell phone and I just had to share pictures of it with you. I love Joshua's sense of humor and his funny way of seeing most things in life. As my "daughter" tells me "He's your boy, Mother". Love all of my precious angels and Praise the Lord for our kids, both older and younger.

Family Reunion

Glen Rose here we come. This weekend is my mother-in-law's side of the family's reunion. We always look forward to this time of the year. These folks may be up in years but they are not old in spirit - such fun. My sweetie and I went out today and purchased our water guns, shooting up to 70 feet. My kids had best watch their backsides! I'm after them!!! Started preparing food and freezing it today to take; will do a Cheesecake tomorrow and freeze, then cobbler and bread on Thur. We'll leave right after I have my appointment with the surgeon on Fri morning. All of our kids and family will be with us and how we look forward to that time. Ya all have a good weekend!

A REAL SERMON FROM A 92 YEAR OLD MINISTER

92 YEAR OLD PREACHER............

While watching a little TV on Sunday instead of going to church, I watched a Church in Atlanta honoring one of its senior preachers who had been retired many years. He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the Church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age.

After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as the applause quieted down he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gate to the podium. Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak....

"When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your preacher asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50 odd years of preaching. I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heartbreak and pain and fear and sorrow paralyzed me... the only thing that would comfort was this verse........

"Jesus loves me this I know.

For the Bible tells me so.

Little ones to Him belong,

we are weak but He is strong.....

Yes, Jesus loves me...

The Bible tells me so."

When he finished, the church was quiet. You actually could hear his foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair. I don't believe I will ever forget it.

A preacher once stated, "I always noticed that it was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best."

I AM A KEPT WOMAN!

At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong,

but the LORD kept my mouth shut. (Psa. 13)

Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,

but GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc.., (Matt. 6:25 -34)

When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.

When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!

I'm blessed to be "kept."

It's Snot Happening

Today I am not crying, I'm not in pain, I'm not taking "knock me out" drugs - I'm laughing and very thankful that what was supposed to have happened today - DID NOT! I was supposed to have sinus surgery this a.m. but because the surgeon was in an accident, he's on medical leave. I'm very sorry for him, but I AM SO HAPPY! I really was dreading the surgery - had it before in '94 - I'm a poet! Now I'm sorry we're not meeting this Thursday for our Blab and Gab get together. As of today I really do not know when the surgery will be scheduled. Maybe NEVER - the Great Physician is very capable of sticking His fingers up my nostrils and really give me a cleaning out. If that happens you will hear me shouting all over SA and may see me in the streets dancing! That's all for today ya all.

Our family had a few hours of fun on the 15th of Mar. In about 1-1/2 hours I had taken 57 pictures. Olie died. So Leanne went to the local paper to put a notice in the obituaries.

The gentleman at the counter, after offering his condolences, asked Leanne what she would like to say about Olie.

Leanne replied, "You just put, 'Olie died'."

The gentleman, somewhat perplexed, said, "That's it? Just 'Olie died?' Surely, there must be something more you'd like to say about Olie. If it's money you're concerned about, the first five words are free. We really should say something more."

So Leanne pondered for a few minutes and finally said, "O.K. then. You can put Olie died. Boat for sale.'"

Recently a sweet, Godly mother passed away. At her memorial service, her husband spoke about the last few months of her life; how he had fixed up her room making it easier for him to care for her. In this room there were many, many frogs - not live ones, I'm sure. Each time they would look at a frog, here's what it meant to them:

FROG

F - Fully

R - Rely

O - On

G - God

The next time you see a frog - maybe this will be a reminder of the One we should always rely on.

o my sisters in the Lord...

There comes a time in every woman's life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstance, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or at who made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her glory and imperfection. Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life? Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mistake, take a closer look. A woman who has endured the most unusual life is someone of wisdom, someone who has been chosen by God to go through things that have made her stronger.

Think of all the great women in the Bible: Mary Magdalene, Ruth and Naomi, the woman with an issue of blood, and Esther, to name a few. Mary was a prostitute, a very uneasy woman. But by the time Jesus was done with her, she was His closest follower. Esther was unfortunate in marrying an abusive man, but by the time God was done with her, she had married one of the wealthiest men in the land.

Women are so quick to beat the next one down instead of trying to hold her up. Before you wonder, " What's up with her?" ask yourself, "What's up with me?" That woman could be my mother, sister, aunt, in-law, stepmother, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend, or co-worker, etc. That woman could be ME.

Women are the carriers of life, not the channels of death. Let's build and encourage each other, as did Ruth and Naomi. Pass this to all the women in your life. Encourage and love, forgive and forget, and trust that the woman that receives this will be touched in some way.

May the peace and love of Christ be upon you!
